How the SERP checker works

  1. 01Enter a keyword, a country and a languageThe country is applied as Google's country setting (gl) and the language as its interface language (hl). Picking a country switches the language to the country's own; you can change it.
  2. 02Google's results page is loaded onceThe checker requests Google's first results page through the same lane that answers Searlo's /serp endpoint, without a Google account, so nothing is personalised to you.
  3. 03The page is readYou get the organic results in the order Google showed them, with their position, title, address and domain, and whether an AI Overview appeared above them.

FAQ

Questions about the SERP checker

Is the Google SERP checker free?

Yes. It needs no account and no card. Each visitor gets 10 checks a day, and a keyword someone checked in the same country and language in the last 24 hours is answered from that check without using one.

Why are my own Google results different?

Google personalises results by account, search history, device and exact location. The checker searches without a Google account, for the country and language you pick, so it shows a page close to what a new searcher there would see rather than your own.

Which countries and languages can I check?

22 countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Mexico, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Portugal and Japan. 10 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Portuguese and Japanese. Through the API, gl and hl take other countries and languages too.

Can I check results for a city or a zip code?

No, the checker works by country. Google no longer localises a results page by a location setting: it answers from wherever the connection is, so a city-level result would be a guess. The API refuses city locations for the same reason.

Does it show the AI Overview?

It shows whether Google put an AI Overview above the results. To see the sources an overview cites, use the free AI Overview checker.

How fresh is the result?

It is loaded live when you run the check, or comes from a check of the same keyword, country and language in the last 24 hours. The result says when Google served the page.

Can I run the checker from a script?

No. The free checker refuses automated requests and has a daily limit. From code, use the /serp endpoint: 3 credits a page, with 3,000 free credits on sign-up and no card required.

Need this in your app? Use the SERP API

The checker is one request to /serp. Each page comes back as JSON with the organic results, ads, People Also Ask, related searches and the AI Overview, for 3 credits a page (8 from November 1, 2026 when the AI Overview has to be completed by rendering the page; aioverview=false keeps it at 3).

curl "https://api.searlo.tech/api/v1/serp?q=running+shoes&gl=de&hl=de" \
  -H "x-api-key: sk_your_api_key"
const res = await fetch(
  "https://api.searlo.tech/api/v1/serp?q=running+shoes&gl=us&hl=en",
  { headers: { "x-api-key": process.env.SEARLO_API_KEY } },
);
const { organic, aioverview } = await res.json();

for (const r of organic.slice(0, 10)) console.log(r.position, r.domain, r.title);
console.log(aioverview ? "AI Overview shown" : "No AI Overview");
import os, requests

data = requests.get(
    "https://api.searlo.tech/api/v1/serp",
    params={"q": "running shoes", "gl": "us", "hl": "en"},
    headers={"x-api-key": os.environ["SEARLO_API_KEY"]},
    timeout=100,
).json()

for r in data["organic"][:10]:
    print(r["position"], r["domain"], r["title"])
print("AI Overview shown" if data.get("aioverview") else "No AI Overview")
