Best AI Visibility (GEO) Tracking Tools and APIs in 2026: Verified Pricing

September 29, 202613 min read

What these tools do, and what we checked

An AI visibility tool, also sold as a GEO (generative engine optimization) tracker, asks AI answer engines a set of prompts on a schedule and reports how often your brand is named, which of your pages are cited, and how you compare with competitors. The category has filled up quickly: dedicated platforms, AI modules inside the big SEO suites, and APIs that hand you the raw answers to analyse yourself.

This comparison reads each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-29 and records three things: the entry price, the AI engines covered at that price, and whether you can get the data out through an API. Where a page does not state something, the table says so. We did not fill a gap with a plausible guess.

Disclosure: Searlo publishes this post and sells one of the eight products, an API rather than a dashboard. It gets the same three facts as everyone else, and the section on who should buy a dashboard instead means what it says. Searlo is independent and is not affiliated with OpenAI, Microsoft, Google or Perplexity.

Per-tool notes

AthenaHQ: the most engines at a published price

The Essential plan is free and comes with a $25 credit worth 300 credits; on AthenaHQ one credit is one AI response. Starter is $295 a month on monthly billing, or $245 a month billed annually, for 3,600 credits a month across 11 models: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. That is the widest engine list at a published price in this comparison. API access and extra credits are optional add-ons billed on top of Starter, and the page asks you to contact AthenaHQ for their price, so the cost of Starter with an API is not published. Enterprise is custom and includes the API.

Otterly.AI: the cheapest paid dashboard plan

Lite is $29 a month ($25 a month billed annually) for 15 search prompts, tracked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Gemini and Google AI Mode are add-ons at $9 a month each on Lite and Claude at $29, and the add-on prices rise with the plan ($59, $59 and $109 on Standard). API access starts on Standard, $189 a month for 100 prompts and 2,000 API requests a month; Premium is $489 for 400 prompts and 5,000 requests. The page gives add-on prices in US dollars excluding tax, and it offers new users a free trial.

Peec AI: a focused dashboard with a choice of models

Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts on three models of your choice, tracked daily, which the page counts as 4,500 AI answers a month (prompts times models times days). The self-serve plans list ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI; each additional model is an add-on, $30 a month on Starter, and the add-on list includes Perplexity. Pro is $245 for 150 prompts and Advanced $495 for 350. API access appears only on Enterprise, which has custom pricing and lists up to 13 models, adding Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, Mistral and others.

Profound: enterprise first, with no brand price published

For brands, the pricing page offers a free trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with no API, history or exports) and an Enterprise plan with custom pricing that tracks up to 9 answer engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search, with API access. The agency tab lists client workspaces at $399 a month each (100 prompts, daily, on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews), without API access on that plan. If you need a number for a brand before a sales call, Profound's page does not give one.

Ahrefs Brand Radar: prompts plus a research index

Brand Radar has two parts. Custom prompts, the tracking of your own questions, start at $50 a month for 2,500 checks, where one prompt on one platform in one location is one check, with overage at $0.020 a check. Every paid Ahrefs plan also includes a small daily quota: 5, 10 and 20 prompts on Lite, Standard and Advanced, from $129 a month. The AI Visibility Index, Ahrefs' database of 448 million prompts for researching any brand without setup, is $199 a month for one platform or $699 a month for all of them. Platforms are AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, with Claude available on custom prompts at 8 checks per update. It also has a documented API: Ahrefs API v3 has Brand Radar endpoints for AI responses, cited pages and domains, mentions and share of voice, and the reference for its AI responses endpoint says requests that return only custom-prompt data are free.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: AI visibility next to Semrush data

The toolkit is $99 a month per domain, the same on monthly and annual billing as displayed, for AI visibility reports, 25 custom prompts tracked daily and one domain for brand performance analysis. The pricing page lists mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, while Semrush's knowledge base describes prompt tracking on platforms such as Google AI Mode and ChatGPT, so check which engines your tracked prompts actually run on before you buy. The same article prices extra prompts at $60 a month per 50 and extra domains at $99 a month each. An API appears only in the Enterprise column, with custom pricing.

SE Ranking: AI prompts inside an SEO plan

SE Ranking puts AI tracking into its SEO plans. Core is $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) with 100 prompts tracked daily across 5 LLMs, alongside 2,000 tracked keywords; Growth is $279 a month with 250 prompts. The AI Search add-on adds prompts from $89 a month on monthly billing ($71.20 billed annually) for 200 prompts, with larger packages of 450 and 1,000. Its AI visibility page lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews, and says answers are captured through the engines' interfaces as a user would see them. Every plan includes API credits and MCP access; the API add-on (+$45 a month, annual billing only) lists an AI Search API among its endpoints, and a standalone API plan starts at $179 a month.

Searlo: an API, not a dashboard

Searlo asks ChatGPT (logged out), Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini (signed out) your prompt through their consumer interfaces and returns the answer, its citations and the cited domains as JSON: 2 credits per Perplexity answer, 4 per Gemini answer and 8 per ChatGPT or Copilot answer, or $0.60, $1.20 and $2.40 per 1,000 answers at $0.30 per 1,000 credits. Google AI Overviews come from the full results page, GET /serp with aioverview=true, at 3 credits per page including organic rank. There is no subscription: credits are one-time packs from $3.99 ($0.80 per 1,000 credits) to $799 ($0.20 per 1,000), and new accounts get 3,000 free credits. A live answer typically takes 10 to 30 seconds, and answers vary from run to run, which is why you sample.

What you do not get is everything a dashboard does: prompt suggestions, charts, sentiment, content recommendations, alerts. You write the prompt set, the storage and the report; the tutorials for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini and for Google AI Overviews show that code. It also covers fewer engines than the broadest dashboards: no Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI or Google AI Mode answers.

The arithmetic: what one AI answer costs

A dashboard's fee buys software, analysis and support as well as answers, so this is not a like-for-like price. It is still the most useful single number when you size a budget, and four of the dashboards publish enough to compute it.

Tool and planAnswers a monthMonthly pricePer 1,000 answers
Otterly.AI Lite1,800: 15 prompts, 4 engines, 30 days (our arithmetic)$29$16.11
Ahrefs Brand Radar, entry custom-prompts package2,500 checks (stated)$50$20.00
Peec AI Starter4,500 (stated)$95$21.11
AthenaHQ Starter, monthly billing3,600 credits, 1 credit per AI response (stated)$295$81.94
Searlo, Perplexity to ChatGPT or CopilotPay per answerNo monthly fee$0.60 to $2.40

Profound (custom pricing), Semrush and SE Ranking do not state how many answers a plan runs, so the figure cannot be computed from their pages. The Searlo row uses the Scale pack rate of $0.30 per 1,000 credits; on the Enterprise pack it is $0.40 to $1.60.

Two things the table leaves out. Sampling: Otterly.AI and Peec AI price their plans on one answer per prompt, engine and day, and AI answers are non-deterministic, so a single daily answer per prompt is a noisy measurement. With an API you choose how many samples to take. And labour: at $0.60 to $2.40 per 1,000 answers, Searlo's API costs far less per answer, but none of the work a dashboard has already done comes with it.

Dashboard or API: who should pick which

Pick a dashboard if:

• Nobody on the team will write and maintain code. The prompt suggestions, competitor discovery, charts and reports are the product, and building them yourself costs more than the subscription.

• You need engines Searlo's API does not cover. AthenaHQ's Starter lists Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral; Profound's and Peec AI's Enterprise plans list Claude and DeepSeek; Otterly.AI sells Claude as an add-on.

• You want sentiment, content recommendations or traffic attribution next to visibility. Several of these tools bundle them, and an answers API does not.

• You already pay for Ahrefs, Semrush or SE Ranking. Their AI modules share a login, a project and reports with your rankings, which is worth a lot to a small team.

Pick an API if:

• The data goes into your own product, warehouse or client reports, and you want the raw answers and citations rather than someone else's charts.

• You want to decide the sampling: several runs per prompt, more prompts in some weeks than others, a new market for one project.

• Your workload is bursty, or you price the work per client, and a monthly subscription fits it badly.

• You want AI Overviews and organic rank from the same results page, in your own storage.

Methodology

What we did: on 2026-09-29 we read each vendor's own pricing page, plus the product, help or API page cited above where the pricing page did not state engine coverage or API details. Several pages draw prices or plan tabs with JavaScript (Peec AI's prices, Profound's agency tab, AthenaHQ's and Semrush's billing toggles, and Ahrefs' platform selector), so we loaded those in a browser and read the rendered page. Prices are as displayed to us, in US dollars, on monthly billing unless the table says otherwise.

What we did not do: test accuracy. We did not run the same prompts through every tool and compare the results, and the engine lists above are what each vendor states, not what we observed. Answer engines change often, so a one-off accuracy test would be stale within weeks. If accuracy on your own prompts is what decides it, run the same prompt set through two or three tools at once: Otterly.AI, Profound and SE Ranking offer free trials, AthenaHQ has a free plan, and Searlo's 3,000 free credits cover 375 ChatGPT answers.

Which to pick

• The cheapest paid dashboard plan: Otterly.AI Lite, $29 a month for 15 prompts on four engines.

• A focused dashboard for an SEO team, with a choice of models: Peec AI, from $95 a month.

• The widest engine list at a published price: AthenaHQ Starter, 11 models for $295 a month.

• Enterprise procurement, SSO and custom coverage: Profound, AthenaHQ Enterprise or Peec AI Enterprise; expect a sales call.

• Already on an SEO suite: Ahrefs Brand Radar, the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit or SE Ranking's AI Search add-on keeps AI visibility next to your rankings.

• Raw answers in your own code, priced per answer, with no subscription: Searlo's AI visibility API, with engine pages for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini, the Google AI Overview API for Google's side, and the docs for every parameter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI visibility tool in 2026?

It depends on who will use it. For a finished dashboard, Otterly.AI (from $29 a month) and Peec AI (from $95 a month) are focused self-serve options with published prices, AthenaHQ lists the most engines at a published price ($295 a month), and Profound sells custom enterprise plans. Teams already on Ahrefs, Semrush or SE Ranking can add AI visibility there. Teams that want raw answers in their own code can use an API such as Searlo's, priced per answer.

What is the cheapest AI visibility tracking tool?

Among paid dashboard plans, Otterly.AI Lite, at $29 a month ($25 billed annually) for 15 prompts. AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free with a $25 credit, and Profound offers a 7-day free trial. Priced per answer, an API costs less again: Searlo charges 2 to 8 credits per answer, $0.60 to $2.40 per 1,000 answers at $0.30 per 1,000 credits, with no subscription.

Which AI visibility tools have an API?

Otterly.AI from its Standard plan ($189 a month, 2,000 requests), Ahrefs through Brand Radar endpoints in its API v3, SE Ranking through API credits and an API add-on, AthenaHQ as a paid add-on on Starter and included on Enterprise, and Peec AI, Profound and Semrush on enterprise plans only. Searlo is an API.

What is GEO tracking?

GEO, generative engine optimization, is the work of getting a brand named and cited in AI-generated answers. GEO tracking measures it: a fixed set of prompts is asked of engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews on a schedule, and the results are reported as mention rates, citations and share of voice against competitors.

Which AI engines do these tools track?

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are covered by almost every tool here at some price. Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot vary by plan, and Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI mostly appear on higher tiers or as add-ons. Check the plan you would actually buy, not the vendor's headline list.

Should I use an AI visibility dashboard or an API?

Use a dashboard if nobody will maintain code, you need engines an API does not cover, or you want recommendations and reports ready-made. Use an API if the data goes into your own product or reports, you want to control how many samples you take, or you would rather pay per answer than per month.
