People Also Ask API

People Also Ask API: Google's PAA questions as JSON

Searlo's People Also Ask API returns the questions in Google's "People also ask" box for any keyword, country and language as a peopleAlsoAsk array, from one GET /serp call that also carries the page's related searches and organic results, for 3 credits per results page.

Is there a People Also Ask API, and what does it return?

Google does not publish a People Also Ask API. Searlo's GET /serp returns the People Also Ask questions Google shows for a query as a peopleAlsoAsk array, with relatedSearches and the organic results from the same page, for 3 credits per results page.

Each item is the question text as Google renders it when the page loads. Answers are not included: to see who answers a question, search the question itself.

People Also Ask is the box of questions Google places among its results ("How often should you…", "What is the difference between…") that expands into a short answer when someone clicks. For content and SEO teams it is the most direct public record of what people ask next about a topic, in the words they actually use.

Searlo reads that box from a real, rendered Google results page. You send a keyword with a country (gl) and a language (hl). The response carries the questions as a peopleAlsoAsk array, the related searches Google lists at the foot of the page as relatedSearches, and the organic results, ads, videos and knowledge graph from the same page. One call, one price: 3 credits per results page.

What the response looks like

Trimmed and illustrative: the keys are the real ones, the values are examples. A People Also Ask item carries the question text and nothing else.

Mine questions across a keyword list

POST /serp/batch takes up to 20 keywords in one request and bills each distinct keyword once. This builds a question list for a content brief and records which seed keyword surfaced each question.

import requests

seeds = [

    "limescale on shower head",
    "clean washing machine drum",

What People Also Ask data costs

3 credits per results page, converted at each pack's published rate. Packs are one-time purchases, not a subscription; credits on new accounts are valid for 90 days.
PackPricePer 1,000 creditsPer 1,000 SERPsSERPs the pack covers
Micro$3.99$0.80$2.401,666
Starter$9.99$0.50$1.506,666
Builder$29.99$0.40$1.2025,000
Scale$74.99$0.30$0.9083,333
Pro$199.99$0.22$0.66300,000
Enterprise$799$0.20$0.601,333,333

A worked example: a content team pulling People Also Ask for 2,000 keywords in three English-language markets once a month needs 6,000 SERPs, which is 18,000 credits. That is $9.00 at the Starter rate, so one Starter pack ($9.99, 20,000 credits) covers the month, or $5.40 at the Scale rate. The 3,000 free credits on a new account cover the first 1,000 SERPs.

The price does not depend on what the page contains. A results page with no People Also Ask box costs the same 3 credits, because the page was fetched. A request that fails with a 4xx or 5xx status, or returns success: false, is refunded automatically.

What teams build with People Also Ask data

  • Content briefs: the questions a page should answer for its target keyword, in its target market, with related searches as secondary topics.
  • FAQ research: real phrasing for FAQ sections and help-centre articles instead of questions invented in a meeting.
  • AEO question mining: the follow-up questions people ask around a topic are the prompts answer engines get too. Map which ones your pages already answer.
  • Market comparison: the same keyword in gl=us, gl=gb and gl=in can surface different questions. Diff them before writing one FAQ for every market.
  • Topic clustering: keywords whose question sets overlap can often be served by one page.
  • Change monitoring: re-pull a keyword set each month and log which questions appeared or dropped out.

Where the questions go next

People Also Ask is one input. These endpoints and pages cover the rest of the workflow.

Honest limits

What the endpoint does not do, so you can plan around it.

  • Questions only. A People Also Ask item is { question }. Google loads an answer when a question is clicked, and Searlo does not click, so there is no answer text, source URL or snippet in the item.
  • The first set only. You get the questions Google renders when the page loads. The box grows as a person clicks through it; Searlo does not expand it.
  • Page one only. pages=2 or more adds organic results. People Also Ask and related searches are read from the first page.
  • Not every query has one. Many commercial and navigational queries show no People Also Ask box. peopleAlsoAsk is then an empty array, and the page is still a billed SERP.
  • It changes. Questions differ by country, language, device and date. Store what you pull if you need a history.
  • It takes seconds, not milliseconds. Each page is rendered in a real browser, so GET /serp is slower than the 1-credit organic-only search. Allow a generous client timeout; the examples use 120 seconds.

FAQ

People Also Ask API: FAQ

Does Google have an official People Also Ask API?

No. Google does not publish an API for People Also Ask. Searlo works as a People Also Ask scraper you call over HTTP: it renders the Google results page, reads the box and returns it as structured JSON with the rest of the page, so you run no browsers, proxies or parsers yourself.

Do you return the answers to the questions?

No. Each peopleAlsoAsk item is the question text only, because Google loads an answer only when someone clicks the question and Searlo does not click. To see who answers a question, run the question itself through GET /search/web (1 credit, organic results) or GET /serp (3 credits, the full page) and read the top results.

How many questions come back per keyword?

The ones Google renders when the page first loads, which is usually a handful and on many commercial queries none at all. The box expands as a person clicks, and Searlo does not expand it, so you get what a first-time visitor sees before interacting with the page.

How much does the People Also Ask API cost?

3 credits per results page, whatever the page contains. That is $0.90 per 1,000 keywords at the Scale pack's $0.30 per 1,000 credits, $0.60 at the Enterprise rate and $2.40 at the Micro rate. A failed request is refunded automatically. New accounts get 3,000 free credits, which is 1,000 SERPs.

Can I get People Also Ask for a specific country, city or device?

Yes. gl sets the country and hl the language. location takes a Google geotargets name for city-level results (or uule takes a raw token), and device takes desktop, mobile or tablet. An unknown location name returns a 400 with suggestions rather than silently targeting the wrong place.

What is the difference between People Also Ask and related searches?

People Also Ask entries are full questions Google expects the searcher to ask next, shown among the results. Related searches are shorter query suggestions at the foot of the page. The response carries both, as peopleAlsoAsk and relatedSearches, and the Google Autocomplete API adds a third source: suggestions as the query is typed.

Can I pull People Also Ask for thousands of keywords?

Yes. POST /serp/batch takes up to 20 keywords per request and bills duplicate keywords once. For bigger lists, queue async tasks and collect the results later or by webhook; the Bulk SERP API page has a 500-keyword example.

Is Searlo affiliated with Google?

No. Searlo is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google. Google is a trademark of Google LLC. Searlo returns Google's publicly visible results page as JSON.
